Biography

Sprinkled with allusions, Melanie Arcand's paintings suggest universes inspired by the complexities that surround her. Interested in the concept of duality, her paintings are a blend of control and unexpected; on the canvas, the elements intertwine and oppose. The sketched vocabulary coexists with the large brushstrokes; vulnerability confronts the force of the gesture on a backdrop of transparency that calls for reverie.

She  lives and works in Chambly, Quebec. In 1999, she completed her Plastic Arts degree before graduating, in 2002, in Multimedia Integration at the ‘Cégep de Saint-Jérôme’. Since 2016, the artist presents creative workshops in schools and is engaged in various community projects and her work is part of several private collections around the world.
